, Illinois.  IFFAMPAC president and founder, Jane E. Durgom-Powers traveled to Cairo, Egypt to speak at The United Nations World Family Summit +4 in Cairo, Egypt held from December 1 – 5, 2008. NGOs, government officials, and business representatives from around the world attended the summit. The theme for the conference was “Lives in the Balance:  Ensuring the Rights to survival, to protection and to development.”

Ms. Durgom-Powers was invited to speak about the success stories of her organization, IFFAMPAC. Her speech was entitled: Assisting Families with Missing Persons from Armed Conflict.  Also present at the summit was IFFAMPAC’s Africa Representative, Mr. Evans Lombe.  The Africa branch office has had recent success in reuniting living missing family members with their families. IFFAMPAC is receiving great praise in Africa for bringing this issue to national attention and forming strong family associations, which promote networking of information on missing persons.  These family associations and volunteers actively seek out families in African communities and camps who have missing family members. IFFAMPAC also helps to guide these families with severe economic and social re-entry issues so they may become productive members of the community.

IFFAMPAC was warmly received by many NGOs and other international representatives at the World Summit who committed to work with IFFAMPAC to achieve its humanitarian goals.
